DexArm Development Plan, Please vote for your favorite features

Hey everyone, we recently launched the latest DexArm firmware V2.2.1. Compare with our first open-source version in July, there are lots of new features:

  • Refactored DexArm’s motion algorithms, including inverse_kinematics, forward_kinematics, and position_reachable.
  • Improved 3D printing motion control,many users commented that they have a new printer:)
  • Added multi-point leveling function.
  • Supported more accessories like sliding rail, conveyor belt, safety enclosure, and rotary kit.
  • Added new teach&playback function.
  • Emergency stop
  • TMC2209 stall guard feature
    Right now, lots of DexArm users have created amazing works with writing/drawing, 3D printing, laser engraving, and pneumatic picking/placing functions.

And we are not stopping here, we plan to add more features to our DexArm, and extend the possibility further. Here, we need your opinions on our development priorities . The following is our development plans:

  1. Extension Module (high priority,The prototype is expected to be available in mid-December): It is intended for support more motors, sensors, and support Arduino, MicroPython, Blockly programming.
  1. Touchscreen wireless control (high priority): Integrate ESP3D into the touchscreen, and add more functions, such as wireless control, G-code sending in a loop.
  2. Laser Power in line feature : improve the synchronization of laser engraving.
  3. LightBurn : compatible with LightBurn software, and support functions such as camera preview.
  4. High-power laser module : a new laser module with power above 5W, with better laser focusing.
  5. New mainboard : the 2*6 Pin may be changed to expandable IO, make it more convenient for users to expand their own modules or sensors. The 3D function will be independent of the robot arm. The power button will be changed to a multifunctional button: long press to power on/off the Arm, and short press to switch between different functions.
  6. Automatic module recognition : no longer need to send M888 Pn to manually set the module type.
  7. New 3D Header, support 3D Touch Auto-leveling and direct extruder .
  8. K210 or OpenMV
  9. Hotbed
  10. 3D printing with sliding rail
  11. 3D printing on the conveyor belt
  12. LED Emoji panel

It would be nice to be able to control the Rotary Module from the Rotrics Studio software!
